Hannan Ishay was born in 1983 in Israel. He graduated from the Thelma Yellin Highschool for the Arts in 2001 with distinction and was awarded the school’s prize for excellence. Following his obligatory military service in Israel, he moved to Europe to study theatre directing.
Hannan graduated the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and was engaged, during his 4-years studies, in prize winning productions.
Shortly after winning in 2011 a fellowship from the Austrian ministry for education and culture for young artists, he started to direct for different theatres and festivals in Austria, such as the Wiener FestWochen, Vorarlberger Landestheater, Gage X etc. While working as independent director, Ishay also continued pursuing his training a as director. Hannan Ishay has accumulated a wide and versatile repertoire in different theatres in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Since 2017 Ishay is a teacher and a member of the pedagogic committee of the Goodman acting academy in Israel
